1. Be prepared to give up control of content creation and maintenance to students. This might be easier with older students, but even middle grades can generate quality material with the right assistance.
2. Conversely, be prepared to monitor content and provide feedback, in person and online. Students do want to know that what they are doing is being attended to.
3. Start wiki work with a discussion of wiki netiquette and reinforce these points, especially when situations emerge. Highlighting best practices and discouraging problematic ones regularly keeps wiki content at at least an acceptable level of quality.
